In Memory Of Sonya Mawhorter Our dear friend Sonya Mawhorter passed away suddenly on Saturday, May 3rd. Many of you know Sonya as the bright shining face sitting behind the registration table at the Ohio and Raleigh Pen Shows. Her involvement with the pen community goes back many years and reaches far beyond these two delightful pen shows. Sonya's smiling face, positive attitude, concern for others and a no nonsense get it done approach to all things she undertook served her well and made her a friend to all. Sonya was a very special lady who will be greatly missed. We mourn her passing, but I fully believe that Sonya would want us to celebrate her life, a life that was cut short far too soon. Our deepest sympathies go out to the Mawhorter family. A Memorial Service for Sonya will be held Saturday, May 10, 4PM at Faith United Methodist Church in Zanesville, Ohio. The family has requested in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Ohio League for the Mentally Retarded, Box 215, Delta, OH 43515. |
Please note: - Pendemonium's retail shop in Fort Madison will be closed Friday, May 9 thru Sunday, May 11 while we attend the memorial services for Sonya Mawhorter in Zanesville, Ohio (see above). Emails will be replied to, but order confirmations will not be sent to you until we return. Sonya was a very special person in our lives and it is important to us to pay our last respects. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

February 1, 2008 - Coming soon from Noodlers: ![]() This is undoubtedly THE brightest, bluest ink Noodler's has created yet! The beautiful blue (it really is a standout!) is based on the color of Colonial Blue Ink made in the mid-1940s. The new Noodler's Baystate Blue is a little different from most of the other Noodler's inks. It is NOT bulletproof, but does have a high degree of water resistance. It is NOT pH Neutral like all of the other Noodler's Inks. Ph is 8-9 range It is suggested that you do NOT mix this ink with other inks Baystate Blue is also much more prone to staining than other Noodler's inks which tend to rinse well, especially bulletproof ones. It has a fabulous label, one of my favorites thus far! ![]() Also coming soon, check out Dragon's Napalm and X-Feather Black now listed on our extensive Noodler's Ink section. |
January 31, 2008 - We have a new pen inspection light! Every bit as good, if not

January 23, 2008 - The Writing Instrument Manufacturers Assn sponsors National Handwriting Day each year in conjunction with John Hancock's birthday. Those of you reading this already know that the art of handwriting is not lost! So, if I may be so bold, I suggest you get out your favorite fountain pen and your best stationery and write a letter to someone who hasn't caught on to this quite yet. Remind them that while computers are great, nothing beats receiving a handwritten letter. If you're lucky, you just might get a handwritten letter in return! ![]() |
January 21, 2008 - Today, January 21, 2008 is Martin Luther King Day in the US. The quote below is from King's "I Have a Dream" speech in 1963. Wherever you may be in the world, don't take your freedom for granted - Let Freedom Ring. "Let freedom ring. And when this happens, and when we allow freedom ring—when we let it ring from every village and every hamlet, from every state and every city, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's children—black men and white men, Jews and Gentiles, Protestants and Catholics—will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual: "Free at last! Free at last! Thank God Almighty, we are free at last!" |
January 18, 2008 - Monday, January 21, 2008 is Martin Luther King Day, a federal holiday in the US. Banks and most government offices will be closed, including the US Postal Service. Our dear friend and colleague, Charles "Buck" Van Tine of Chillicothe, Illinois passed away on January 15, 2008. Buck and his wife Sandy were active members of the pen community, but their true passion was collecting inkwells. I'm sure some of you had the pleasure of meeting Buck at a pen show or perhaps at a Society of Inkwell Collectors convention in the past. Buck was Executive Director of the Society of Inkwell Collectors from 2002 through 2007.Our condolences to Sandy and family. We'll miss you, Buck. |
