Parker Duofold Jr FP, US, ca. early 1920s, red hard rubber, gold filled trim. Button fill - fills only from a bottle. Parker 14KT gold nib is marked: Parker Duofold Made in USA 44. Very firm extra fine point. Correct Christmas Tree feed. Measures 4 5/8 inches long. Barrel has the large Duofold Jr imprint with Lucky Curve banner below. Duofold Jr imprint is crisp and easily readable, the Lucky Curve banner less so. Black hard rubber blind cap and cap top are crisp and shiny black. Gold filled trim is brassed on clip ball and cap band edges. There are NO cracks in the cap lip on this pen, an all too common problem with red hard rubber Duofolds. There is some very light ink staining on barrel threads and about 3/8 inch onto the barrel. There is also some very light ink staining on cap near the top. This is a very, very nice example of a red hard rubber Duofold Junior fountain pen. 		$400

Parker Vacumatic Junior Fountain Pen and Pencil Set - ca. 1937. Burgundy marbled with gold filled trim. FP has double black jewels, vacumatic filling, Parker 14KT gold nib in firm fine point. FP Barrel is engraved: To Anton Svoboda From His Fellow Workers. FP measures 4.75 inches long. Matching pencil has black cap jewel, twist activated mechanism uses 1.1mm dia leads. Pencil measures 4 5/8 inches long. High point brassing on both pieces, the FP has the barrel end jewel, but the gold filled tassie is missing. Aside from the issues mentioned, in very good condition. 		$180

Parker Vacumatic Junior, ca. 1936. Green and black marbled, gold filled trim – double cap bands, double black jewels. Vacumatic filling – aluminum lockdown filler unit. This pen fills only from a bottle. Measures 4 7/8 inches long. Parker Arrow14KT gold nib is marked: USA Parker 26. Firm fine point. Barrel end tassie is well brassed, but clip, cap bands and cap tassie are much better with just a bit of high point brassing. Imprint is clear and easily readable. Transparent center section of barrel is well ambered. Overall very nice!		 $180

Vacumatic filling, lockdown style filler unit, 14KT gold Parker Arrow nib is marked: Parker USA with engraved arrow. Firm extra fine point. Pen measures 4 5/8 inches long. Trim shows typical high point brassing to cap tassie, clip end and sides, the barrel end tassie is almost totally brassed. There is some discoloration at barrel end above blind cap. Not your everyday run of the mill Vacumatic! 		$175

PARKER VP

VPs were not made for long, they are sort of a compilation of several Parkers – a predecessor to the 75, they incorporate a similar nib and the adjustable section, the pseudo-aerometric filling system of the 51s and a look easily confused with a 61 until you remove the cap and see the open style instead of hooded nib!

The VP has an adjustable section with markings so you can turn the nib section to comfortably fit your hand, and an aerometric type filler using a clear acrylic insert instead of the rubber sac used in the 51 and 21 series pens.

Parker 45 Fountain Pens have been a mainstay of the Parker line since the late 1960s and are still made today for the UK market. Well made, reasonably priced and all around good writers, the Parker 45 makes a great pen for everyday use or for someone just getting started with fountain pens.

Parker 45s are cartridge/converter fill. Converters are available separately - we have both original and current production converters to fit these pens. Complimentary ink cartridges are included with each Parker 45 purchased.

Parker 45 (?) Fountain Pen - very early, dare I say transitional type model. The barrel, section and nib are identical to the Eversharp pens that evolved into the Parker 45. Metal cap is the typical matte st/steel finish. Clip is polished steel and exactly the same length and design as on the regular Parker 45s - but there are no feathers stamped on the top part of the clip - just a plain, smooth clip. Cap edge is marked Parker on the front lower edge and the back edge carries the Parker "oval-arrow" logo with Made in USA below. Semi exposed steel nib in fine point. No converter with this pen, not sure which one it would have been! Very unusual and in excellent condition with exception of a small mark on cap below the clip end.

Refilling your
Vintage Mechanical Pencils

Most mechanical pencils made before the late 1960s and some even after that are refilled by feeding lead in from the Point End. Those that feed from the barrel (below the eraser) are a fairly modern invention! Don't be fooled by leads in the barrel, in older pencils, that was simply a space to store a few extra leads, but that's it - just storage. As always with vintage writing instruments, exceptions will crop up!

The instruction below are from a Sheaffer package insert, but apply to most older mechanical pencils.
