VINTAGE WATERMAN PENS AND PENCILS

WA-182	Waterman No. 52 1/2V Ringtop Fountain Pen and Pencil set, ca. mid-late 1920s, red hard rubber named Cardinal by Waterman. Gold filled trim. Fountain pen is lever fill - fills only from a bottle. Waterman 14KT gold nib is marked: Waterman's Reg. US. Pat Off 2, responsive fine point, feed is also red hard rubber. FP measures 4.25 inches long. Pencil uses 1.1m diameter lead and measures 3.75 inches long. Both pen and pencil are in very good condition.	$175
WA190	Waterman Pen Case - This is an unusual pen pouch case with Waterman logo embossed on the closure strap. Dark chocolate brown with contrasting tan stitching to match the tan closure strap. Inside is lined in a shimmery light brown satin. There are two pockets inside where you can place either a thin pen in each pocket or one large pen in one pocket. The case is totally flat when empty, but snaps closed magnetically around the pens and expands just right to hold them securely. It's actually quite a clever design. Outside dimensions are 6 5/8 x 2 inches. Smells like smooth calfskin leather but is not marked as such. Appears unused and is in excellent condition.	$35
WA191	Waterman Laureat Roller Ball - Ball Pen - ca. 1992 First edition of the Waterman Laureat series, dark green lacque marble, gold electroplated trim, knurled gripping section. This model is convertible and will accept either a Waterman roller ball or ballpoint pen refill, we have installed a fresh roller ball refill. Measures 5 inches long. Complete with original royal blue Waterman box and the warranty and instruction booklet, also in Waterman blue. Mint condition.	$75

B1658	Waterman 1923 Advertising Calendar Blotter is printed in blue and black on white blotting paper. Waterman's Ideal Fountain Pen and Globe logo printed in the center. Imprinted for Thiele Prescription Druggist in Alliance, Nebraska. Measures 3.5 x 6 inches. Never used, no ink blots on the back and in excellent condition. As it says, Useful Every Day In The Year.	$25

Refilling your
Vintage Mechanical Pencils

Most mechanical pencils made before the late 1960s and some even after that are refilled by feeding lead in from the Point End. Those that feed from the barrel (below the eraser) are a fairly modern invention! Don't be fooled by leads in the barrel, in older pencils, that was simply a space to store a few extra leads, but that's it - just storage. As always with vintage writing instruments, exceptions will crop up!

The instruction below are from a Sheaffer package insert, but apply to most older mechanical pencils.
