BonTon Fountain Pen, ca. early 1900s, USA

MI2013  BonTon Fountain Pen, ca. early 1900s, USA. Barrel imprint:  Bon-Ton Leslie Harvey Co Kansas City MO. Smooth black hard rubber cap and barrel, white metal narrow lever. Bright Steel accommodation clip is marked Dixon, this pen did not originally have a clip. Solid 14KT gold BonTon nib with outline of a star. Nib is a flexible stub point 2mm at rest, 4mm on downstrokes.  Measure 5.5 inches long, cap opening is 3/8 inch diameter. Very good condition. Bon Ton was one of several names used in the Sheaffer- Kraker-Bon Ton group of pen companies out of Kansas City.

Sheaffer “Max Passable Example” Intrigue Barrel and Blind Cap in Silken Bark finish from the Sheaffer factory “Paint Room”. 2001. This is just barrel and blind cap, no guts, no clip, no refill. Kept in Quality Control as a “Perfect Sample” to compare this Silken Bark finish. Attached is a marking tag that reads on side 1: “Int Blkune 3622 Stencil Room. Max Pass Pimple 2-13-01 MR” “Max Pass Pimple” which would have referred to the red circled areas on the barrel. MI2009  Elgin Fountain Pen, ca, 1940s, USA, Bright brass finished cap and clip, Clip is marked Elgin. Ivory plastic barrel, gold plated lever. Veri Smooth Medium nib Made in USA, Firm medium point. Measures 5.25 inches long. Lever fill – fills only from a bottle. Two tone gold plated-steel nib.  Measures 5.25 inches long.  Very light corrosion can be seen on either side of the nib slit, otherwise very good condition. (1 avail)
